Three challenge part 3-1: soft

12:04 AM colorfulbottle 10 Comments

Hi!
Time to post my soft manicure!
I'm really sorry I'm so late, I'm really working on it =)

For this manicure it was obvious that it wasn't meant to be a success =).
In my imagination it looked great and it probably would look great if I used a different nail polish, sponge more carefully and pick a different TC =)
I should explain a bit the last sentence =)
I should pick a bit more darker purple so the sponging effect would stand out more, the next mistake was that because I really wanted it to be perfect I sponged on to many layers and I ended up with bumps. Because I picked to light colour the stamping turned out too subtitle (even for a soft manicure), an the last mistake was TC, I used essence gel look TC, which made bumps make even bigger. Pictures don't flatter my manicure ether =). I definitely love the idea so I'll probably recreate it, but with different polishes =)

I used:
Catrice: Lucky in Lilac
China Glaze: Light as air
and some random stmping plates =)

What do you think?
Would you like to see another version of this manicure?

Here are all the other girls that participate in three challenge
( and most of them published their last manicure today)

P.S. I'm really sorry for such a depressing post 2 days ago. I was really down, and tired, but I'm really working on things that are going on in my head, and I promise that I won't whine about things like that on my blog, especially because doing nails makes me happy and I want to keep this blog a happy place =). For me and all of my sweet readers =)

Thank you all for your support! Sometimes I just couldn't done it without you!

Three challenga part 2-3: favourite emotion

11:33 PM colorfulbottle 11 Comments

Hi!

I'm sorry I disappeared for so long. I'm going through rough times right now, and I'm also really busy so there is no way I could prepare something for the blog. But today I finaly had a bit relaxed day ( after 10 days) and created a manicure with my favourite emotion =)
You all know the picture of a challenge by two Matejas:

I wanted to do satisfaction, because I just love the feeling when I'm satisfied with something ( I'm a real perfectionist, so this doesn't happen really often). Satisfaction is really hard to draw so I decided to go with happiness, because lately I'm really missing this emotion in my life. I hope it comes pack in to my life ASAP.

Here are the pictures:

Like it?
I'm quite satisfied with the result =)

All the other girls that created a nail art with their favourite emotion you can find here:

I'll try to reply all the lovely comments ASAP. Thank you for being so awesome!

Three challenge part 2-2: Favourite book

1:41 AM colorfulbottle 18 Comments

Hi!

It took mi quite a while to get back to my blog. My last few days have been really busy and ful of pretty unpleasant surprises and interruptions. I do hope that next week will be much easier for me =)

I was supposed to post this a few days ago, but I didn't have time to do  my nails
For this post I had to prepare nails inspired by my favourite book. This is a part of Three challenge by Mateji Ustvarjata

I'm really ashamed, but I haven't read a book that is not related to school for more than 6 months. I used to be a big bookworm, but now I don't have time and energy to read any more. Because I haven't read a while I completely forgot about the great world of books and I couldn't find my favourite book, this is why I decided to pick a random book from my collection ( a very humble one). I ended up with Sushi For Beginners by Mirian Keyes
I don't know why I picked up this one, but I think it has something to do with the fact that this Thursday my friends Sara from Passing Fancy took me and my friend for a sushi in Japanese restaurant ( this is one of rare things that made my week a bit better)
I also broke a nail, so one of them is really short.
Here is what I ended up with:

It's not something I would be proud of, but let's face it, I'm not good at nail art =)

I used:
Catrice: sold out forever
acrylic paints

Here are other girls that put their fav books on their nails:

How I make nail polish rings?

11:28 PM colorfulbottle 10 Comments

Tassa from Tassa's blog asked me how I make nail polish rings
Here is a quick picture "tutorial" for all of you who are wondering the same =)

This are itemes that I use:
2 phase glue from UHU, ring mounting, glass cabochon and of course nail polish, IP and stamper and scraper =)

I ordered my ring components on zacoo.com. They offer low prices and free shipping. Some items came crooked, but I don't care since I got them almost for free =)
I dodn't know about this store until someday kind Junija from Ars cosmetica told me about this store, and I must say that I'm still grateful for it =)

This is how this ring setting looks like. In the store you can find it here, but if you are looking for other shapes or different colours, you can look here. They really have a lot of items to offer
A picture with the back of the ring and glass cabochon.
You can find this specific cabochon here and all the others they offer here

The setting of bigger rings isn't really well welded ( only with these antique fancy looking settings), this is why I secure that back with a dose of glue. I hope you'll be able to see the glue on the setting. This really works, and with this technique these will last you for a long time. I usually wait overnight for the glue to dry.

Now off to the "tutorial"
Firstly I pick a design and transfer it on the glass cabochon. What I like about glass it that you can make mistakes! Plastic usually turns white or lose shine, but not with glass. You can use it as many times you want!
I picked a design from BM plate series 2 (can't remember the number right now) and Konad special black polish

After the stamping dried a bit, I added a layer of polish I wanted for a background. You have to be really careful in this step, because design can be easily smudged!

After the first layer dries apply another coat of nail polish if necesary

Leave over night to dry
When dry apply a little bit of glue and wait again at least 3 hours to dry.

This is what you got!
A nail polish ring!
This is how it looks on my hands:

I's not perfect, but not bad ether!
What do you think?

Here are some of my other creations:

I made many more, but silly me, I forgot to take pictures!

I paid about 1$ for this ring, if I include glue, nail polish, everything

My overall opinion:

pros:
+a lot of items to chose from
+really cheap, where can you get a unique ring of you choice for 1$?
+they look great, especially the ones I have
+easy to work with
+you can adjust size, I'm really happy about this, because usually no ring fits me
+ free shipping
+I also ordered a normal cabochon setting and the ones are welded amazingly well!
+Glass cabochon allow mistakes
+ if you use stickey glue dost, the whole set can be used again and again
+ on their site they always have the right size cabochon or setting on the right side of the window, so there is no way you could order wrong sized parts

although there are some negative parts:

-it sometimes takes a long time that the package gets to you
-some items are crocked, but I got only 2 and I think I ordered at least 50 items
-Some parts are badly welded, but as I said this can be easily fixed
- some parts are not welded straight, but under different angles, but this also doesn't bothers me

I'm really impressed with this store so I'll definitely make a purchase in the near future =)

P.S. I already contacted the store if I can get a discount for my readers, I'll let you know if they will be so kind to offer a discount coupon =)

Three challenge part 2-1: Favourite song

7:56 PM colorfulbottle 6 Comments

I was really surprised to see post from three challenge today, because I didn't memorise the correct date and if I wouldn't do some checking up today, I'd probably be a little late(again)

For this part of the challenge I had to get inspired by my favourite song. That was quite challenging, because I love a lot of different songs. When I started thinking about which one would I choose I only thought about latest hits, because I do listen to them all the time, I wanted to do Call Me Maybe, Goin', Back In Time...., but in the end their lyrics seemed way too superficial for a challenge like that. Then I started thinking about Queen and one of my favourite bands Nickelback,  but I still couldn't pick a song. Just when I was about to give up it hit me! I was playing song pop( FB application) and I got challenged in GLEE . Why not get inspired by such a meaningful, beautiful song like Imagine? Of course I know that this song was not written by GLEE, but I really love the start of this song. Deaf people singing this song. There is not a better way to represent the lyrics and the meaning of a song.

Here is a video of a song, please take those three minutes( irony three challenge, three minutes) and listen to it!

Here is my manicure:

I put love and peace over white, because white is pure and represents fresh start.
On my ring finger I tried to to the uniform of the deaf people ( I kinda failed that).
On my middle finger I decided for a red base which represents blood spilled because of hatred and wars, I also put little x-s there, because nobody wants a horror like that
And on my index finger I just ran out of inspiration and simply write imagine with 3( again three) dots which represent that we are really far away from a place like John Lennon wanted to have.

I used:
Essence: white hype
beautyuk black from midnight mix set and red from west end girl set
Bourjois 10 days: 21
and nail art brushes from Born pretty store which I'll review tomorrow it there won't be any unexpected plans =)

Here is also the lyrics of a song, because I think it is really meaningful:

Imagine there's no heaven

It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people living life in peace

You, you may say
I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions

I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people sharing all the world

You, you may say
I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world will live as one

What do you think? Did I fail or succeed in recreating such a meaningful son?

Be sure to check out what inspired other girls:

Three challenge part 1-3: futuristic

11:53 PM colorfulbottle 32 Comments

It's time for the third manicure in three challenge

For this part of challenge I had to make something futuristic looking. I found one interesting piece of clothing in the Internet, but I failed recreating it on my nails.
Here is a picture of the dress:
Source
Interesting right? I would never wear it, but it really looks futuristic. doesn't it? =)

To continue with my nails
I wanted to use striping tape to create clear lines, but my nail polish wasn't completely dry and I ruined everything in my first try so in my second try I decided I'll just do everything with free hand. I won't count how many new grey hair did I get because of this manicure, but I'm pretty sure it was quite a lot and in the end I was really happy that at least I have something to show you, although it turned out far more worse that I ever imagined.
Here it is:
My futuristic manicure=)

It's really not what I wanted to create, but at least with this colour combination and metallic colour everything looks futuristic, don't you agree?

Items that I used:
China Glaze :Millenium
Catrice: Hot or Not?
Beauty UK West end girl set: beige colour
and unknown light grey

Here are all the awesome ladies that also created something futuristic today =):

My big haul

11:14 AM colorfulbottle 20 Comments

As promised I'm going to show you what I bought this week

My first purchase was on Slovenian store ličila.si. They had the last summer action and I got quite a lot of items for free, but about the price I'll tell you later. Here is what I bought:

Sleek: Oh so spacial palette

I've had Sleek Oh so special palette on my WL for more than a year, and since Storm is probably the only MU product I use, I decided to buy this one for me too =). I'm not used to taking pictures of eye shadows so they lack in quality a bit.
Price: 11,95€
Here is a picture without names, I already used some before photographing, because I'm just too curious sometimes =).

What do you think about the colours?

BeautyUK west end girl

This set looked like a great set for fall and I think I was right. The shades are really fall like. Because I already have one set from BUK at home I knew that they are really good and shiny.
Price: 9,95€

from L to R:
BarryM retro: Lady in Red (4,45€), BarryM: Peach Melba (4,45€), BarryM foil: Lilac Limited Edition(6,25€) and BYS: Pink Maniucre( 3,55€)

And the last item!
Beauty UK midnight mix.
I got this one as a gift
I was doing some math in the end of my purchase and I realised that I spend 1,9€ per a polish which is almost as cheap as Essence.

Was it a good bargain?

My second purchase was from Slovenian web store ZaPikoNaI.
Here is what I got:

From L to R:
China glaze: No Plain Jane(8€), China Glaze: Deviantly Daring(8€), Konad Specila polish in pastel pink ( 7,30€), OPI: Dutch Ya Just Love OPI (11€), Orly: Pure Porcelain (5€)

Quite pricey right? But that's just because of the shipping and taxes. I really hate this, but I can't do nothing about it.

I'd like to say a few words about this store. This week I needed a little help with a purchase, because I wanted to gift my friend something special but I don't know nothing about MU, and I sent them a mail asking for help. They were really friendly! They asked their MU artist Petra for advice and she was so kind she sent me a mail with her perfect choices. I'm really grateful for that.

Petra is a great MU-artist that has quite a lot quality videos on YT, they are in Slovenian language, but I think that language isn't a limit when it comes to MU =)
Here is one of her latest MUs:

What do you think about my purchase?
Have you ever had such a lovely experience with a seller?
Which polish would you like to see on my nails first?

Three challenge part 2: ultra modern

11:37 PM colorfulbottle 21 Comments

I was supposed to publish this yesterday, but I've had a really busy day yesterday and I really didn't manage to prepare any posts, so I postponed them for today.
For this part of challenge I had to prepare something ultra modern. I really struggled with that one, and I must say that I'm really not pleased with what I came up, but I must admit, it is not a complete fail as well.

I decided to go with this combination because:
  • I really think that this bundle monster design reminds me of something really modern
  • because I've never combined purple and green in my life, and since people really wear this combo it probably is modern ( or it's maybe modern only to me)

natural light

artificial daylight

Items I used:
Orly: Pure Porcelain
Bundle Monster 203 with Bichun(purple) and CG Jolly Holly

Stamping on this manicure is really crappy, but what the hell! This was my only idea and I really didn't have any spear time to correct it.

What do you thing about my representation of ultra modern? Am I "altmodisch"( old-fashioned) ?

P.S. I'm really sorry for the horrible state of my cuticles. I'm really working on them( I was a bit to nervous on Tuesday)

Here is the list of other girls that joined this wonderful challenge:

This is a bonus picture showing one of the reasons why I wasn't able to prepare a post

My best friend finished her diploma yesterday with 10, so we celebrated with cocktails. They were really delicious!!!

Oh My Glitter met m85

10:44 PM colorfulbottle 16 Comments

Yesterday I showed you swatches of some new Essence polishes. Today I'm going to show you how I upgraded Oh My Glitter! with my birthday gift. I got KONAD special polish in pastel violet for my birthday, which it was on my WL for ages, so I just looked for an opportunity to use it, and Oh My Glitter made it possible =).

Oh my glitter on it's own ( I'm showing them to you once more, because this polish really deserves a lot of attention)
sun
 shade

I stamped it with KONAD special polish in pastel violet and m85
sun

shade

I really love color combination, but I don't like how pastel violet smudged on some parts of the nails. I hope next time I'll do better =)
I have the same problems with pastel blue. Does this happen to you too?
It's not like it's really noticeable, but I'm really a perfectionist when it comes to my nails =)

Do you own any KONAD special nail polishes? What do you think about them?
Would you like to see a post about good stamping polishes on my blog?

Today I got packages from my massive hauls from 2 Slovenian web stores.
Would you like to see what I bought?

Essence swatches

9:26 PM colorfulbottle 25 Comments

Today I'll show you some Essence swatches.
I recently bought 3 polishes from their regular line in shades: Cookie Love, Oh, My Glitter! and Gorgeous Bling Bling. These 3 were the ones that I thought are the most attractive, but later I changed my mind about one.

You probably all know about their new bottles and brushes, but here is my opinion:

Firstly I didn't like their bottles, but now I'm really in love with them, and I also think that the brush is really great. It makes application really easy. The only problem I had with this polishes is that Oh, My Glitter! and Cookie Love chipped in less than a day on my nails. I'm not sure if it is the formula, or maybe the brush. Yes, the brush! Although it is perfect for application, you can easily have too much polish on the brush, and we all know what happens with thick coats of polish-it chips easily. Their formula is super shiny and they dry fast so I don't have any complaints about that. I must try applying really thin coats next time to see if this will do the trick.  I will definitely buy some more shades in the future!
Here is the brush picture:
Now on to the swatches:

I really suck at describing colours so it is probably the best for all of us that I skip this part =)
The first one is Cookie Love. I really liked it on other girls swatches, but IRL it kinda disappointed me. It just didn't go well with my skin tone, so this one will probably have to find another owner. I still love the colour, just not on me.

This picture was taken in shade

and this one in the sun

The second is Oh, My Glitter! I love this one!
I wasn't able to catch it's beautiful shimmer/glitter, it looks a lot more awesome IRL
I used 2 thicker coats
Direct sun

and shade

The last is Gorgeous Bling Bling

For this one I thought I'm really gonna hate it, because it looks a bit dirty and I don't like dirty colours. I bought it because I don't have anything like that in my stash and because I saw how good it looks on other girls swatches. And when I applied it I fell in love. I'm not sure what is it that makes it so special, but I really love it. I already know it will be my favourite this fall.
I applied 2 coats
 shade( on a cloudy day)

Under daylight light bulb. Really crappy quality, but I really couldn't do any better.

What do you think about them?
Which one is your favourite?
Which shades did you buy?
